Dehumidifying Agent

I spilled the dehumidification liquid for [Dehumidifying Agent ]. What’s the best thing to do (in the case of cupboards, flooring, or rugs)?

Please wipe the area of the spillage with a damp cloth and allow it to dry.

The dehumidification liquid contains calcium chloride and it won’t dry naturally as it absorbs the moisture in the air, so it needs to be completely removed.
In order to remove it, wipe the spilled area with a towel that has been soaked a lot in water, then wipe it dry with a dry towel. By repeating this several times, the area will become dry.
If after a number of days the area becomes wrinkled and sticky, please repeat the same process.
In some cases you can’t verify for several days due to the temperature or humidity, so please check it frequently for a period of time.
Note: When wiping it, directly touching by hand the chemicals of the dehumidification liquid (calcium chloride) may cause your skin to chafe, so please wear kitchen-standard gloves.

If the liquid spilt on a rug.

Please talk to a dry cleaning shop. Make sure to tell them that the liquid soaked in is dehumidification liquid.

I spilled the dehumidification liquid for [Dehumidifying Agent ]. What’s the best thing to do (in the case of clothing)?

If it’s a piece of clothing that can be washed at home, soak it in a large vat of water and lightly hand wash it. After lightly squeezing it, please wash it as you normally would with laundry.
If taking it to a dry cleaning shop, please tell them that the liquid soaked in is dehumidification liquid.
However, the way to deal with this is fundamentally by washing it with water, and so restoration will be difficult for clothes that cannot be washed with water.

  • For silk or wool: Immediately take it to a dry cleaning shop.
  • For traditional Japanese clothes: Take it to a cleaning shop for traditional Japanese clothes.
  • For leather goods: Apologies but restoration will be difficult. After drying, the leather will shrink.
  • For synthetic leather: If there’s no soakage on the inside, wipe it with water several times. If there is soakage on the inside, apologies but restoration will be difficult.

  • The chemicals inside [Dehumidifying Agent ] that were previously smooth have now hardened. Is this a defect?

This is a normal transition and is the form it takes just before becoming liquid. As the calcium chloride that’s in the dehumidification liquid sucks up moisture, it goes through a transition of granular to hardening to liquid.
In low humidity, it can sometimes stay in its hardened state, however once the humidity rises it will start to absorb it again and become a liquid.
Note: The speed of absorbing will differ depending on the environment’s temperature and humidity.

When initially opening the packaging bag, it will be convenient to open it as neatly as possible.
